Transfer Pathways

There are four pathways to transferring to the Mount. Students can:

  • satisfy the IGETC or CSU Breadth requirements
  • apply an Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT) toward their MSMU Bachelor's Degree
  • apply with at least 24 units and a minimum GPA of 2.4
    • Weekend Evening & Online College students below a GPA of 2.4 may be considered with demonstrated growth and other compelling strengths.
    • Students with fewer than 24 units can submit their high school transcript(s) for consideration.
  • start their college experience abroad with Verto Education and qualify for guaranteed direct transfer admission to MSMU

Community college student?

Transfer Advantage is for students who were admitted to the Mount as first-year students but chose to attend a community college with the intention of returning to complete their bachelor’s degree through our traditional undergraduate program (excluding our BSN program). 
 
This program provides personalized support from a dedicated transfer admission counselor, invitations to exclusive transfer events and the opportunity to keep your first-year merit scholarship, if eligible.

Transfer Application Process

We are excited that you're interested in applying to Mount Saint Mary's University. We look forward to reviewing your application!

We review applications and admit students on a rolling basis. However, we do have a priority deadline and we recommend students apply as soon as possible. 

Transfer priority application deadlines (non-nursing):

  • March 15: Fall admission
  • November 1: Spring admission 

International students must apply by November 1 for Spring admission and August 1 for Fall admission.

Traditional BSN application deadlines:

The BSN program starts once per year in the Fall semester.

The application opens on September 1. The application deadline is February 1.  

All materials must be submitted by the deadline. For international applicants, this includes all items listed under Application Requirements above, as well as all BSN prerequisites and application requirements.

Accelerated BSN (ABSN) application deadlines: 

The ABSN program starts in the Summer and Fall. 

Summer term start: Application opens August 1. The application deadline is November 1. 

Fall term start: Application opens December 1. The application deadline is March 1. 

All materials must be submitted by the deadline. For international applicants, this includes all items listed under Application Requirements above, as well as all ABSN prerequisites and application requirements.

Weekend/Evening application deadlines: 

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Our priority deadlines are listed below:

  • July 15: Fall admission
  • November 15: Spring admission 

All materials must be submitted by the deadline. For international applicants, please review both the Application Requirements above as well as any other items required by your chosen Weekend/Evening program for admission. 

The following are the documents you will need for a completed transfer application to Mount Saint Mary’s University:

  • A completed application
    • Submit your Mount Application 
      • Once you begin your application, you will be asked for the "Application Category". Select "Transfer". 
    • An essay is required to complete your application. You can submit your application without the essay and upload it later.

      • Submit 2-3 typewritten and double-spaced pages addressing one of the following:

        • Reflect on a time when you questioned or challenged a belief or idea. What prompted your thinking? What was the outcome?
        • Discuss an accomplishment, event or realization that sparked a period of personal growth and a new understanding of yourself or others.
    • Once you have submitted your application, you will receive access to your MSMU Admission Portal. You can refer to this portal to check your status, submit missing materials and update your application.
  • College transcript(s)
    • We require official transcripts for admission review.
    • Transferring with fewer than 24 credits? You must also submit your high school transcript(s) or GED.
    • To submit your OFFICIAL transcript(s):
      • You can request this through your school's digital transcript system
      • Your school can email a copy directly to transferadmission@msmu.edu 
      • Your school can mail an official version to Office of Admissions, 10 Chester Place, Los Angeles, CA 90007
  • Letter of recommendation is optional from a teacher, counselor or employer
