How to start the ABSN program at Mount Saint Mary’s University

Mount Saint Mary’s University, Los Angeles offers a seamless pathway for non-nurses who hold a bachelor's degree in another field to transition into a nursing career in just 12 months. The admission to our Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program is open for fall and summer semesters and is based on the successful completion of prerequisite courses and other requirements.

Take the long-awaited step toward a rewarding career in nursing.

Note: Our ABSN program is for students who already hold a bachelor’s degree in another field. If you have some prior coursework, our traditional BSN might be the pathway for you. If you are a high school student interested in pursuing a BS in nursing or a transfer student, explore our pre-nursing major

  • **LACE (Liberal Arts Core Education) courses are the general education prerequisites for ABSN. These courses are not specific to Mount Saint Mary’s University; rather, the acronym honors the history of the Mount's founders, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet. In the 1600s, the Sisters taught widowed women in France to make lace, helping them gain financial independence after wars left them destitute. This tradition of empowerment through education continued when the nuns came to the U.S. and established MSMU.
