Nursing Admission

Our nursing program was the first one in California. We've come a long a way since then, but one thing is still true:

Our programs offer a balance of hands-on learning with sound theory. Our department is comprised of extraordinarily talented faculty, staff and students. And we are all committed to improving health and care, advocating and promoting health integrity and promoting inclusive excellence.

We offer several pathways to help you start, continue or advance in your nursing career. All of our nursing programs are co-educational and open to all students.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Our traditional BSN program is ideal for prospective nursing students who do NOT already have a Bachelor's Degree. If you are a transfer student, you can apply directly to our BSN program. If you are a first-year student, you can apply to the Direct Entry Nursing to start your BSN journey.

  • Pre-Nursing (First-Year Students)

    As a high school student interested in pursuing a BSN degree, you must first apply to MSMU as a pre-nursing student. Once you have completed your prerequisites in your first year or two, you will be able to apply to the BSN program.

  • BSN (Transfer)

    The Mount's Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program readies you for the health care world of both today and tomorrow. As a BSN graduate, you qualify for the NCLEX-RN licensure examination which upon passing awards you a Public Health Nursing Certificate, a document necessary to work as a Registered Nurse in California.

  • Accelerated BSN

    Do you have a Bachelor's Degree in another field but are considering a career in nursing? Mount Saint Mary's University recommends our Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree program. The ABSN program is the perfect transition to a career in nursing.

  • MSN

    Ready to advance your nursing career? Earn your Master of Science in Nursing at Mount Saint Mary's University. We help prepare nurses in advance theory, leadership and modern-day specializations.

  • RN to BSN

    Our RN to BSN programs is designed for working nurses who already have their RN license and are looking to complete the BSN to advance their nursing education.
