President Ann McElaney-Johnson
Dr. Ann McElaney-Johnson is the 12th president of Mount Saint Mary’s University, the only women’s university in Los Angeles. Since 2012, she has led with a vision that advances academic excellence, student success, and transformative education. With more than 35 years of experience in higher education, she is nationally recognized as a thought leader in the advancement of women, innovative teaching, and student success. Dr. McElaney-Johnson launched the Report on the Status of Women and Girls in California™ and the University’s Center for the Advancement of Women, both of which have established Mount Saint Mary’s as a leading resource for research and leadership development.
Her leadership has elevated the University’s national profile, with recognition from The New York Times, Money magazine, and U.S. News & World Report. Beyond the Mount, Dr. McElaney-Johnson serves as Chair of the Women’s College Coalition and on several higher education boards. She holds a PhD from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, an MA from Middlebury College, and a BA from the College of the Holy Cross.

Board of Trustees
The Board is comprised of industry leaders who support the Mount, alumnae and representatives from our founding Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet. They work together and on several specialized subcommittees, such as educational affairs and finance, to help ensure that both short- and long-term goals are met to secure the University’s continued growth and success in creating future generations of thoughtful, socially conscious and bold women leaders.
President’s Cabinet
The President’s Cabinet, an internal group of leaders under the president, is composed of the University’s six area vice presidents, representing academic affairs, administration and finance, enrollment management, inclusive excellence, institutional advancement, and student affairs.
