The Language and Culture Department at Mount Saint Mary’s University offers majors, minors and certificate programs for students who want to improve their language skills. Language skills are increasingly in demand during this age of international trade and travel. And employers are seeking out multilingual people to hire.

Students choose Language and Culture programs for many reasons, but one of the primary benefits is small class sizes. Our students become friends as they journey through their degree program, working closely with educators who work to ensure success with every student.

Our students have interned at many leading organizations, including Clinica La Esperanza-Roatan (Honduras), Univision, Bank of America, A Place Called Home, Children's Hospital and many more. MSMU offers many opportunities to explore different cultures and earn school credits with its Travel Abroad program. In the past, students have traveled to France, Cuba, Italy, China, Spain, Portugal, and Central and South America.

Perseverance, hard work and honesty are the characteristics we seek in Language and Culture students.
