Course Reserves FAQ

Print materials on reserve are housed at the Circulation Desks of both Coe and McCarthy Libraries.

Electronic materials on reserve will be available directly in your Canvas course or from your professor/instructor.

Extended Use Fee

Reserve materials incur late fees at the rate of $2.00 per hour (or day) depending on the length of the loan.

Overdue notices are issued as a courtesy reminder to the borrower, and billings are sent when materials become significantly overdue.

Does the library have my textbook?

Nursing Program

All of the required textbooks for the Nursing Program at MSMU are available as Course Reserves at the Circulation Desks at each campus.

DPT Program

All of the required textbooks for the DPT Program at MSMU are available as Course Reserves at the Circulation Desk at McCarthy Library - Doheny Campus.

All Other Programs

For all other majors and programs, textbooks may be available through Course Reserves at MSMU, in the stacks at MSMU or through Interlibrary Loan (ILL).

Get my textbook through Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

If your textbook is not available at MSMU, we may be able to request a copy for you through ILL.

If you only require certain chapters, you can request just those chapters, and you may receive them faster as an electronic file.

It may take up to 2 weeks to receive an item from ILL, so please plan ahead!
